Gregory Dean Jr., of Hopewell Junction, charged with violating gun magazine law

A 31-year-old Dutchess County man driving with a .40-caliber Smith & Wesson pistol on his front passenger seat has been charged with violating the state SAFE Act because the semiautomatic handgun held nine rounds of ammunition instead of the seven limit, State Police reported Monday.
