The Columbia County Sheriff said deputies were dispatched just before 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday for a train/pedestrian fatality in the area between Germantown, N.Y. and the Dutchess County line. An investigation showed an Amtrak employee was struck and killed by an Amtrak train while working on a section of track.
